Welcome to Big Woof Travel! We’re excited you’re here. We know that looking for ideal spots and stays while traveling with bigger dogs can be like sifting through sand – first you have to seek out the dog-friendly spots, double check against a couple of different sources, and call and triple check. For Airbnbs and hotels, you can filter by dog- and pet-friendly only to find out that the location prohibits dogs over 20 pounds. It makes the whole process of booking travel much more complicated and not quite as leisurely.
So we started Big Woof Travel to help travelers like you find accommodations, excursions, and more – all geared towards larger pups.
Our Story
Since 2018, we’ve planned our trips and travel around our dogs. When we adopted our first dog, she was 97 pounds, and our second dog now hovers around 60 pounds.
Traveling with not one but two larger dogs took some planning – not every hotel or Airbnb will allow even one big dog, let alone two.
What You Can Expect
- Recommended U.S. hotels, Airbnbs, excursions, and more – from real travelers
- While we love international travel too, we just don’t have vetted experience elsewhere in North America or beyond yet!
- Tips for securing your dog’s safety during travel
- Suggestions on making travel more comfortable for you and your dog
What We Won’t Cover
While we understand why many people go the route of getting their dog certified as an emotional support animal (ESA), that’s just not an option that has made sense for our family. There are a lot of great resources out there on what the difference is between a service animal and an ESA, and plenty more on how to get your dog certified. Furthermore, ESAs do not have the same protections as service animals, so there are many things to figure out while traveling.
